Electrix Renewable are Devon-based EV charger installers with over 20 years of experience in renewable energy and electrical installation. We supply and fit leading charge points for homes, workplaces and commercial sites across Devon and the South West, and we can usually get you booked in within two weeks.

If you have just bought an electric vehicle, or you are about to, having a dedicated home charger installed is one of the most practical decisions you will make. Plugging into a standard socket every night is slow, inconvenient, and harder on your vehicle's battery over time. A properly installed wall charger changes that completely.

Why choose Electrix Renewable as your EV charger installers?

There are several EV charger installers operating across Devon. Here is why our customers choose us.

Most EV charger installers are electricians who have added EV charging to their list of services. We come at it from the other direction. Electrix Renewable has been installing solar panels, battery storage and energy systems across Devon for over 20 years. That background matters if you want your charger to work as part of a wider energy setup, whether that means charging from your solar panels during the day, integrating with a home battery, or taking advantage of a smart overnight tariff. If you already have solar panels and want to charge your car from them, or if you are planning to add panels in the future, we know exactly how to configure your system to make that work properly.
All of our EV installations are carried out by OZEV approved installers, which is the certification required to install charge points under the government's Electric Vehicle Chargepoint Grant scheme. If you are a landlord or a business eligible for grant funding, we will handle the application for you.
Choosing a charger is not always straightforward. Tethered or untethered? 7 kW or 22 kW? Smart scheduling or basic on/off? The right answer depends on your car, your home setup, your energy tariff, and what you want the charger to do. We will ask you those questions before we recommend anything, not after.
We are based in Devon and we work across the county. You are not dealing with a national company that subcontracts to whoever is available. When you call us, you speak to someone who knows the area, knows the local grid setup, and can give you a realistic timeline rather than a vague estimate.
The majority of our work is from client recommendations and 5* Google reviews from our customers prove the quality of our work and products.
We commission the unit, connect any associated apps, and walk you through how to use it before we leave.

The EV chargers we install

We are approved installers for a range of the UK's best-known charge point brands. Our recommendations are always based on what suits your situation, not on which product has the highest margin.

Zappi

Zappi is our most popular choice for customers with solar panels. Made by myenergi, it is designed specifically to prioritise surplus solar energy when charging your vehicle, which means on a sunny day you can charge your car for free using power your panels have already generated. It also integrates with home batteries and smart tariffs. If you have solar, or plan to get solar, Zappi is the charger we will almost always recommend.

Ohme

Ohme chargers use live energy pricing data to automatically charge your vehicle at the cheapest possible time, without you having to do anything. As an Ohme Partner, we install these regularly for customers who want a smart, low-effort charging setup. Ohme works particularly well with Octopus Energy and other intelligent tariffs.

Rolec

Rolec is a well-established UK brand with a strong track record in both domestic and commercial installations. Robust, reliable and competitively priced, Rolec units are a solid choice for straightforward home charging or workplace installations where simplicity and durability matter more than advanced smart features.

Easee

Easee is one of the most talked-about names in EV charging right now, and our most recommended option for customers who want a genuinely smart, compact charger without overpaying for features they will not use. If you want a charger that looks good, installs cleanly and just works, this is usually the one we recommend.

Home EV charger installation

A dedicated home charge point is the most convenient way to own an electric vehicle. Rather than looking for a public charger or waiting at a service station, you plug in when you get home and your car is ready in the morning.

Most home installations use a 7 kW single-phase charger, which will charge a typical EV from near-empty to full overnight. We carry out a full survey of your property before any work begins, checking your consumer unit, available capacity, and the best location for the charger on your property.

Workplace EV charging

Providing EV charging at your workplace is increasingly becoming something employees expect, and for businesses with fleets it is becoming a practical necessity. We design and install workplace charging solutions for offices, car parks, retail sites and industrial premises across Devon.

Businesses, charities and local authorities may be eligible for funding through the Workplace Charging Scheme, which provides up to 75% of the cost of purchasing and installing EV charge points, up to £350 per socket. We will confirm whether your site qualifies and handle the application process if so.

Landlord and rental property charging

Landlords with off-street parking can apply for the EV chargepoint grant, which covers up to 75% of installation costs per socket across eligible properties. Adding a charge point to a rental property is increasingly seen as a meaningful feature for tenants who own or plan to buy electric vehicles.

Commercial and public charging

We install app-enabled charge points for commercial sites where the charger will be used by customers or members of the public. These units can be configured to charge for use, providing a potential additional revenue stream alongside the benefit of attracting EV drivers to your premises. We advise on connection to charging networks if that is relevant to your site.

Charge your car from your solar panels

One of the biggest advantages of using an EV charger installer who is also a solar and battery specialist is that we can design a system where everything works together properly.

If you have solar panels, a Zappi charger can divert surplus generation directly into your car rather than exporting it to the grid at a low rate. In summer months, many of our customers with solar and a Zappi cover the majority of their daily driving distance entirely from their own generation.

If you also have a battery storage system, we can configure the charger, panels and battery to work as a single managed system, prioritising your own energy at every stage and only drawing from the grid when necessary, and only at the cheapest available time.

How our EV charger installation process works

We keep the process as straightforward as possible.

Get in touch by phone or online and tell us about your property, your car and what you are looking for. We will give you an indication of the right charger and answer any initial questions. If you already have solar panels and want to charge your car from them, or if you are planning to add panels in the future, we know exactly how to configure your system to make that work properly.
We carry out a survey of your property, either in person or in some cases remotely via photos and information you provide, to confirm suitability, check your consumer unit and agree the installation location.
We provide a written quote covering supply and installation, with no hidden costs. The price you are quoted is the price you pay.
If you are eligible for an OZEV grant, we handle the application on your behalf.
We book the installation at a time that suits you. Most installations take between two and four hours. We aim to book within two weeks of your survey.

We offer systems for all budgets.
